About us
Who runs the Sailing Forum?
Brion Lutz has been running the Sailing
Forum, and now the Outdoors Forum for CompuServe, for close to 20 years
now, beginning in 1986. Brion has a long history of messing about
in boats, from growing up in New Jersey on the Mullica River, Great Bay,
Little Egg Inlet area to cruising the Golden Horn in Asia to The Creek
in Lagos Nigeria to Waheke Island in New Zealand.
History of Sailing Forum.
Sailing Forum was started by
John Lovell a few years before that on CompuServe's subscription service
which included forums by Lotus, IBM, Ashton-Tate, Dell Computers, all
the original hardware and software companies that began the PC
revolution back on the 1980's. Lovell left and turned the forum over to
Brion who had Keith Taylor, then the editor of Sail Magazine, to help
out. Use this link to contact:

Sailing Forum has been a long
time supporter for the sport.
Sailing Forum and CompuServe have been long time supporters and sponsors
of several sail racing events. Most notably Sailing Forum/CompuServe
sponsored the BOC Around Alone Race in in 1994-95 and the Whitbread
Round the World Race in 1997-98. In partnership with Compaq Computer,
CompuServe operated cyber cafes at each one of the ports, offering free
computer access to everyone visiting the race villages.
