Energy Team will not be joining the list of challengers competing for the 2013 Louis Vuitton Cup. The French team led by the Peyron brothers had been working hard to secure its Cup campaign, but with the challenge deadline of midnight on August 1st looming, the team has advised it will focus on the AC World Series and building a challenge for the 35th America’s Cup. “We will shift to ‘Plan B’,” said Bruno Peyron. “We will compete in the AC World Series and prepare for the next America’s Cup, the 35th edition, in the best possible way. “We feel a responsibility to build on all the work we have done so far and to provide a platform for long-term success for our team and our partners. We want to be playing to win and in this instance we have run out of time for 2013.” Energy Team has found success on the AC World Series, winning the fleet racing in Venice with skipper Loick Peyron and knocking off the top teams in both match racing and fleet racing formats over the course of the first season. The team will compete on the 2012-13 AC World Series circuit beginning with the next event in San Francisco from August 21-26. The team is also preparing to field an entry in the Red Bull Youth America's Cup.
